Once again we are having problems with youths jumping into the harbour and risking their lives. The East Pier is the favouraite place at the moment and is causing stress to Port staff, the Masters/Skippers of vessels using the harbour, the Coastguard, the RNLI and the Police. The harbour is not a playground. It is dangerous. If your children are going to the beach this summer, tell them not to go jumping into the harbour please.
This year the youths have decided that it is okay to throw the lifebuoys into the river and the sea. This is obviously a misuse of safety equipment intended for saving lives. It is also a criminal offence. Some also consider it acceptable behavour to throw stones and bottles at passing vessels. IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.
